There are many reasons why Hollywood recasts take place. Sometimes, a star wants too much money. If the cost isn’t worth it because the star simply doesn’t have the Star Power, the show replaces them.
Other times, stars leave shows for other opportunities. Sometimes, it works out for them. Sometimes, it’s a bad decision. But, they have to live with it.
No matter what the reason is for Hollywood recasts, they have an interesting way to go about them. Sometimes, they try to find a look-alike. Other times, they don’t even get close. Whatever their reasons are, most of the time the switch works. The rest of the time though, it’s hilarious.
Daario In Games of Thrones
As if no one would notice Ed Skrein being replaced by Michiel Huisman in the role of Daario. One has long hair and no facial hair while the other is the exact opposite. Ed did 3 episodes in 2013 before Michiel took over the following season.
Darrin In Bewitched
Dick York and Dick Sargent both played the role of Darrin. They look a little alike, but don’t think it went unnoticed when their acting styles were just a bit different. Dick York did 170 episodes from 1964 to 1969 before being replaced by Dick Sargent for the remainder of the show. That was a huge switch in the middle of the life of the show.
Vivian In Fresh Prince
Janet Hubert-Whitten and Daphne Reid were an interesting switch. It took about a second to realize Will Smith had pulled the old flip on us. Janet started with the series until she was replaced by Daphne in 1993. They both were in about the same amount of episodes.
